Jaguar XF wins another award
July 5: Souce - Wards: Today, Ward's celebrated its 9th Annual Interior of the Year Awards where it announced the 2009 Jaguar XF as winner in the Best Premium Car Interior category.

Selected by members of the Ward's editorial staff, the Jaguar XF was evaluated over a two-month period in eight specific interior categories: material selection, ergonomics, driver information, safety, overall value, fit and finish, and design harmony. Within each of these categories, the XF took top place.

“After all of the hard work from the Jaguar design team, it's really satisfying to receive this type of recognition for the Jaguar XF," said Ian Callum, Design Director for Jaguar Cars. "The XF really represents the new design direction we are taking Jaguar and this recognition from Ward's Automotive Group underlines that what we are doing is absolutely right for the brand."

With interior design that is equal to the exterior in terms of crafted execution and visual excitement, the new XF's interior ambience is enriched by crafted, luxurious materials, sophisticated instruments and calm interior mood lighting. Engineering excellence and attention to detail mean the XF's interior matches the best-in-class for refinement, while Jaguar's intelligent use of technology and driver-friendly touch-screen controls add new layers of comfort and ease of use.

The Ward's Interior of the Year awards program continues to grow in popularity and prestige among the automakers, and is the industry's only trade show and conference focused specifically on vehicle interiors. It spotlights the latest innovations in vehicle technology and design to help suppliers respond to increasing demands and changing consumer preferences.

Tata complete Jaguar acquisition
MUMBAI (AFP) - June 2: India's truck and car-maker Tata Motors announced Monday it had completed its acquisition of Jaguar and Land Rover from ailing US carmaker Ford for 2.3 billion dollars in an all-cash transaction.

In a statement to the Mumbai stock exchange, it said the deal includes the "ownership of Jaguar and Land Rover, all necessary intellectual property rights, manufacturing plants and two Britain-based advanced designing centres."

Tata Motors had announced the deal earlier this year.

"Jaguar and Land Rover are two iconic brands with worldwide growth prospects. These brands will retain their distinctive identities," Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Motors said in the statement.... article continues

Not The Car For These Times
May 18 - Los Angeles Times: Jaguar's reputation for luck — which is not to have any — continues with the 2009 Jaguar XF, the company's new and utterly pivotal midsize, V-8-powered sedan.

In the best of times, launching a luxury sedan against the likes of the BMW 5-series and Audi A6 would be a scary proposition, and these aren't the best of times. The XF lands just as the U.S. economy is in a flat spin, premium gas is hitting $4 a gallon and the luxury car market is falling on its posh butt...article continues.....

XF - 'extra fantastic'
April 23: Source - USA Today: It's no stretch to say that the just-launched 2009 Jaguar XF sedan is more than a Jaguar. It is the Jaguar.

It's the only new-design Jag model on sale. It's the only Jag you could consider a mainstream product (by luxury-car standards). And the vehicle is doing so well that Jag could sell only the XF and match past total sales.

XF vs Germany!
May 12:

Audi A6 4.2 vs. BMW 550i vs. Jaguar XF Supercharged vs. Mercedes-Benz E550

Source Edmunds.com

We regret to inform you that the era of the V8-powered midsize luxury sport sedan could be over. Gas prices aren't the problem; instead, it's the impending federal fuel-economy standards that could spell the end of these luxurious street sleepers.

So this meeting of the 2008 Audi A6 4.2, 2008 BMW 550i, 2009 Jaguar XF Supercharged and 2008 Mercedes-Benz E550 might represent the end of an era.

Under the new rules, shoving big V8s into midsize sedans will become a questionable prospect even for luxury brands. Without massive price increases, only the most expensive flagship models will be able to offer thirsty eight-cylinder engines, leaving the smaller sedans to get by with six cylinders or worse.
