Jaguar XF rolls off factory line
The first of a new breed of Jaguar cars rolled off the production line to a fanfare at its Castle Bromwich plant this morning.
The new XF is a vitally important car for Jaguar, as it has the potential to secure its future – along with the jobs of some 2,500 workers at Castle Bromwich.
The XF will replace the retro-style S-Type – which has not been a success in the showrooms – as Jaguar’s mid-range executive car. It will compete in a highly competitive sector of the market against the latest models from the likes of Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW and Lexus. The XF embraces the traditional Jaguar values of performance and luxury but wraps them up in a distinctively muscular 21st century look.
